Is marriage important in a relationship?

I have been with my boyfriend for 4 years now. We recently came back from Paris, I was kinda hoping for a proposal. Nothing came of that holiday.

I love the idea of marriage and a wedding but when I mention it to my boyfriend, he just says be patient. 4 years is a long time.

I don't want him to marry me because he feels he has to, I want him to marry me because he wants to.

Am I being unreasonable
